David Bates: The Ginger Ramos in 2. Bundesliga

In a generation where footballers from the United Kingdom are branching into foreign markets, it has now become an attractive prospect for players to kick-off their professional careers. We have seen great success for Jadon Sancho at Borussia Dortmund whilst the likes of Reece Oxford (Augsburg), Reiss Nelson (Hoffenheim) and Rabi Matondo (Schalke) have made…

Dundee United’s Revolving Door of a transfer Window

Well then… that was a lot, wasn’t it? In the article I wrote back in December, I predicted that we would sign maybe 3 players. I was very wrong, we signed almost quadruple that, with 11 players coming in, so my campaign to be considered the next Nostradamus will have to wait a wee bit….

Jonatan Johansson at Morton – Where has it all gone wrong?

In recent years, Scottish Football has made small steps towards ridding itself of the “jobs for the boys” tag which has hung about it for so long. Young, ambitious coaches are being given more opportunities than before, with the usual merry-go-round of chancers finding it increasingly difficult to obtain jobs they would’ve walked into before…

Scores Out Of Ten For Steven Gerrard Lighting Up Scottish Football

The winter break is over! Wipe the sleep from your eyes, knock the remnants of a James Tavernier flung snowball from your hair, briefly register the shock of Auchinleck Talbot’s giant killing triumph in the cup and strap in for the return of the Scottish Premiership.

One of the stories of the season has been the appointment of Steven Gerrard as Rangers manager. Ahead of tonight’s Kilmarnock versus Rangers clash (with added Jordan Jones flavoured spice ) two Pure Fitbaw writers had a quick WhatsApp conversation rating Gerrard’s time at Ibrox so far.

Steve Clarke Needs To Decide If Kilmarnock Are No Longer The People For Want-Away Rebel Jordan Jones

On Saturday the 5 of January Jordan Jones, Kilmarnock’s influential left-winger, signed a pre-contract for Rangers which will lead to him playing for the Ibrox club from the start of the 2019/20 season. This deal, taking Jones to Ibrox in the summer along with Dundee’s Glen Kamara, has left a sour taste in the mouth of Kilmarnock fans who have grown to love Jones’ performances in the stripes. Over the past two and a half years Jones has rebuilt his career at Kilmarnock after being released by Middlesbrough following a troubled spell at the Teesside club. However, his social media posts celebrating sealing the Rangers deal have added fuel onto the fire. Many Killie fans are annoyed that Jones seems to be thinking ahead to the summer and may lack the motivation to put in good performances for his current club.

Partick Thistle’s Identity Crisis

By Matt Greer It’s been a tough time for Partick Thistle. Ever since a historic top six Premiership finish in April 2017, the club has struggled for form and finds itself bottom of the Championship. Since top six was secured, Thistle have averaged just 0.74 points per game; for context, Brechin (who went an entire…

Gers Ignite Title Race With Bargain Pick Ups In Mad Dash Through January Sales

You can feel it; that chill in the air, the darkness when you leave for work and darkness on your return home. The constant defrosting of your car in the morning and the taking down of the Christmas tree. There really is not a lot to look forward to in the month of January. Except for the January sales, of course. The thrill of trying to snag the bargain buys that will see you through the year.
Well, my friends Dave King, Mark Allan and Steven Gerrard were first in the queue this year: picking up the bargains before anyone else even had a chance to browse through the rack.

Edinburgh City – Capital investment

In/Out or Shake it all About? The dramatic turnaround of Edinburgh City has been one of Scottish Football’s more interesting stories this season. After scraping around the bottom of League Two since their historic promotion, the team find themselves (at the time of writing) three points clear at the top of the table, with an…
